You may be forgiven for having never wandered off the main roads in Jakarta, but if you haven’t taken the time (with your camera) to meander through one of the kampungs that are situated right in the heart of Jakarta, then you really are missing out on a unique Indonesian cultural phenomenon that is also an amazing and pleasant photo-opportunity. During this morning walk you will be led through the labyrinth of a kampong and will have many opportunities to capture “slice-of-life” scenes of everyday life going on.
We will meet friendly locals and will witness scenes of old Jakarta juxtaposed with the new. We visit a market and there will be plenty of challenges with difficult lighting situations, but Melbourne will be giving advice, tips and tricks to each of the small group of participants, drawn from his 35+ years of shooting nearly anything you can think of in almost any lighting condition you can imagine.
After the photo tour we have an informal group review over lunch in a nearby restaurant. Cost of lunch is not included in the photo tour cost.If time is tight and you have another appointment you can skip lunch and the review.
Targeted at those who have attended Melbourne’s Part 1 and Part 2 photography courses, this extension to those courses will give you actual “hands-on” experience in real life situations and will make you grow your camera skills. If you are a little “rusty” with your camera familiarity, Melbourne will be there to make suggestions and answer your questions.
It’s likely that from the mornings’ shoot, you will have a selection of “keepers” that you will want to enlarge, have framed and hang in your home. The tour begins at 8.15 am and we will end the walk at about 12 noon. Cost for this photo tour and workshop is IDR 850,000 payable in advance.
